Abstract
The objective of the study is to determine the impact of land fragmentation on the food security of households in Huong Thuy town, Thua Thien Hue province. The study interviewed 150 rice-cultivating farmers using the convenience sampling method. We applied the Probit regression to estimate the relationship between land fragmentation and other factors on household food security in rice production. The results show that households with a higher degree of land fragmentation are likely to associated with food insecurity. In addition, the study also found that factors such adoption of new rice varieties in production can improve household food security. The findings recommend that local authorities should promote the process of land consolidation and adoption of new varieties to help households produce more efficiently and reduce food insecurity problem in their families.
