Abstract

This study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of global academic research on sustainable tourism development (STD) in craft villages. Utilising data from the Scopus and Web of Science databases, 554 peer-reviewed journal articles published between 2001 and 2024 were analysed through VOSviewer for bibliometric analysis. The analysis highlights key research trends, thematic clusters, influential scholars, and prominent institutions contributing to this growing field. Results indicate a significant increase in publications over the past decade, underscoring a heightened scholarly interest at the intersection of sustainability, tourism, and traditional craft heritage. Despite this upward trend, empirical investigations into the practical effectiveness of sustainability policies in craft villages remain limited. Consequently, the study calls for further research to evaluate the long-term socio-economic and cultural impacts of STD initiatives. This paper provides a foundational overview of the intellectual structure of the field and suggests future research directions to enhance sustainable development practices in traditional craft village contexts.
