Evaluation of seamless roaming in high-density wireless network

Abstract

The paper deals with roaming in wireless networks in high-density environments. Two roaming methods include fast roaming and seamless roaming. Through building an experimental wireless network model and comparing and evaluating the performance of the two methods, we provide several suggestions for implementing wireless network systems within high-density environments, such as schools, dormitories, and small and medium enterprises. The evaluation results show that seamless roaming with 802.11k/r/v standards has great advantages over fast roaming when there is almost no latency in seamless roaming, which ensures that all connections of wireless devices are smooth and stable.
