Abstract
Research on responsible tourism behaviours is needed to contribute to the sustainable development of tourism following the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam. This study aims to describe the responsible behavioural intentions of Generation Z (Gen Z) domestic tourists and to examine factors that could encourage such intentions. Based on data collected from 260 tourists and the PLS-SEM analysis method, the study found that Gen Z tourists had behavioural intentions reflecting responsibility for compliance with legal regulations, economic contribution to the local economy, protection of the local environment and culture, and social responsibility to local communities. In addition, the study revealed that two factors, personal norms and attitudes towards responsible tourism behaviours, positively influenced the responsible behavioural intentions of Gen Z tourists. Furthermore, awareness of tourism consequences positively affected the ascription of responsibility. And then, the ascription of responsibility was found to encourage young tourists to adopt relevant personal norms and positive attitudes towards responsible tourism behaviours.
