Abstract
This study aims to examine the impact of green human resource management on employees’ green behavior in the hotel industry, while also investigating the mediating roles of green culture and environmental awareness. In the context of increasing sustainability pressures faced by the hotel sector, fostering employees’ environmentally friendly behavior is considered a critical factor in enhancing environmental performance at the organizational level. Data were collected from employees working in hotels and analyzed using the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) approach. The results indicate that green human resource management has a positive effect on both green culture and environmental awareness. In turn, these two factors positively influence employees’ green behavior. Mediation analysis further reveals that green culture and environmental awareness partially mediate the relationship between green human resource management and employees’ green behavior. This study contributes to the green human resource management literature by clarifying the multi-level mechanisms underlying these relationships and provides practical implications for hotel managers in promoting sustainable employee behavior.
