Abstract
Hue is the last capital city of Vietnamese feudalism, where architectural constructions, temples, tombs and pavilions are preserved in intactness. Apart from that tangible heritage, Hue keeps in it a large quantity of intangible heritage in which royal festivals of Nguyen court plays an important role because it reflects cultural activities created by this dynasty in order to satisfy cultural and spiritual life. Royal festivals reflect ritual activities of Nguyen court, mostly paid more attention to “ritual” than “festival”. In present context of our country, with the spirit of building Vietnamese culture which is progressive and deeply imbued with ethnic identities – important endogenous strength of stable development – the preservation and enhancement of values of Hue court’s royal festivals have important meaning. In front of that real state, it is necessary to do research on the formation of the festivals in order to offer appropriate preservation solutions to revive royal festivals in both “ritual” and “festival” sides, meeting the spiritual expectations of the citizens, especially serving the target of developing stable tourism in the present international context is extremely necessary.References
