Abstract
Preservation and promotion of cultural-artistic values is an important task in the development of the country. During its existence, the Nguyen dynasty left behind a massive architectural heritage, not only on the imperial architecture and the king's tomb but also in the tombs of the dynasty's royal ladies. The article presents the origin, methods, materials, and expression of motifs carved in the tombs. The author also analyzes and compares the similarities and discrepancies of carving and decoration in tombs in Hue and those in the North and points out the interference and cultural acculturation between regions of the country. Thereby, the author suggests new issues concerning the preservation and promotion of the traditional artistic heritage values of the nation.
