Abstract
After the success of the geographical discoveries in the medieval period, Portugal came and established a relationship with Cochinchina (Vietnam). This relationship took place on many fields: trading, weapons production, Missionaries and cultural acculturation. With the aim of systematizing the missionary activities of Portugal and the process of established the Quoc Ngu in Cochinchina (Vietnam) from the year 1614 to the year 1625, the article has analyzed the missionary process, and cultural acculturation, from which to draw comments and assessments about the relationship between Vietnam - Portugal in history. From that traditional relationship, the implications can be drawn in suggesting the future cooperation relationship between the two countries, in the context that both sides want to establish and further enhance the bilateral relationship in the modern time.
