Abstract
Wind energy is a clean and economically efficient source of energy that is being extensively developed in Quang Tri province. However, the construction of wind power projects inevitably causes unintended impacts on local communities.
One of the key challenges faced by localities with such projects is land acquisition and site clearance for wind power development. Using a survey method with questionnaires administered to 247 households across 31 locations (areas with wind power projects) in 10 communes of Dakrong and Huong Hoa districts, Quang Tri province, along with interviews with 21 village representatives, this study highlights the impacts of land acquisition on household livelihoods as well as conflicts related to land compensation.
